Every legend needs a map. Mine goes: palace, podium, temple, arena, home. Follow the pawprints.
Chapter One · The Palace
I came home to marble floors, gold cups, and fresh flowers. Very nice. Very royal. Then I looked down and found the one thing a kingdom must never contain: an empty bowl.
So I did what any monarch would do. I sat perfectly still, made direct eye contact with every human in the room, and waited. The staff called it “patience.” I call it diplomacy with consequences.
Chapter Two · The Campaign
Begging was not scaling. So I built a movement. I put on a shirt, borrowed a tie, and promised the only three policies that matter: full bowls, more treats, longer naps.
The crowd raised their paws. The banners had dinner on them. Nobody asked me a hard question, because everyone already agreed. I work for food. It’s a transparent platform.
Chapter Three · The Lost Temple
A single kibble rolled across the floor and left a trail of glowing blue pawprints. Any sensible cat would have eaten the kibble and gone to sleep. I am not a sensible cat. I am an archaeologist with a snack motive.
Emerald pillars. Gold hieroglyphs. Statues of cats who clearly also ruled. The door at the end had my eyes carved into it, which I found flattering and mildly suspicious. Follow the pawprints.
Chapter Four · The Arena
The arena was loud. The lights were unnecessary. The cups were stacked into a pyramid taller than my patience. Everyone waited to see if the little hooded cat could reach the top.
Reader, I did not climb it. I ascended it. Confetti fell, the crowd screamed, and I claimed the summit as furniture. They built a pyramid. I turned it into my throne. Always land on top.
Chapter Five · The Return
I climbed back to my window expecting a quiet street. Instead I found thousands of little paw lanterns glowing all the way to the horizon, and every one of them was lit by someone who never stopped posting about me.
I sat down. I looked at my bowl. It was full. Then I looked at the lights again, and decided the lights were the better part. The king has returned—and this time he brought the whole kingdom home.
